INAUGURATION AND INDUCTION OF THE ANTI-CORRUPTION AND TRANSPARENCY UNIT OF NCCE (ACTU)



In line with its effort to domesticate the fight against corrupt and other related practices in Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) across the country, The Independent Corrupt Practices Commission (ICPC) has on the 14th of August, 2019 inaugurated the Anti-Corruption and Transparency Unit (ACTU) of the National Commission for Colleges of Education (NCCE) in pursuit of its mandate across the Colleges of Education in the country. Inaugurating the members, ICPC Chairman Professor Bolaji Awasonoye represented by Mr. Justin Kuatsea appreciates the Executive Secretary NCCE Prof. Bappa-Aliyu Muhammadu and its Management Staff for providing an enabling environment for the occasion. He also congratulates the newly inaugurated members stressing that their selection and confirmation is a positive testimony of their good character and integrity hence, charged them to exhibit all forms of professionalism in carrying out their assignment. Justin Kuatsea quoting section 6 (b-f) of the corrupt practices and other related offences Act 2000 as it relates to the operation of ACTU NCCE said the unit is part of preventive mandate of the commission and it will play a vital and complimentary role in aiding the NCCE to achieve its mandate. He stressed that NCCE would benefit immensely from the ACTU when it commence the implementation of its assigned functions which he highlighted to include; systems study and review, sensitization of staff, development of code of ethics for staff and the conduct of preliminary investigations into complaints that will be received amongst others.







Speaking shortly after the inauguration, the Chairman ACTU NCCE Barr Umar Mainasara, thanked ICPC for deeming the newly inaugurated members worthy to serve in this capacity, he however assured the Commission of NCCE’s commitment in ensuring the effective execution of its mandate. He solicited for NCCE Management Cooperation in performing the assignment.
